This talk looks at words & phrases considered to be taboo or almost taboo, ie "very rude". The objective is not to learn to swear but to analyse these words & phrases from a language point of view as they regularly appear on a daily basis in many areas of everyday life.

This talk will look at:

•    Taboo words through history
•    Dangerous differences between American and British English
•    Taboo words with "double-meanings"
•    How the British public have "graded" how obscene certain words are
