MANIPULATED ENGLISH
 



This talk looks at how many British newspapers and magazines like to "manipulate" the English language in order to add a touch of humour to the article. These "touches of humour" often appear in the title of the article rather than in the main body of the text so as to attract the attention of the reader. However, as newspapers are now being used in the classroom, many titles could be very confusing for students.
